Wow...Quite An Interesting ACM Show

Our show today largely centered around the ACM Awards last night. The show DID have some highlights. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood singing an Eddy Arnold song was probably the best moment. Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, and Reba were also highlights. However, it seemed to be the odd parts that took the cake. I am well aware that no one sounds amazing at these awards show, mostly in part due to the dry microphones they have to use. But, there were a few performances that were less than great. In addition, the whole Taylor Swift "hoodie-waterfall" fiasco was a little weird. Ok, so you wanna pour water all over her...i guess that's ok, but can you give me a reason to the madness? Was the song about a storm? Are they trying to make her a vixen at 18 years old? Who knows. All I know is that I truly felt bad for her parents (and her) when it was all said and done. It was just silly in every facet. Taylor doesn't need that......Maybe they thought this was on Nick at Nite and she was getting slimed.

Overall, as mentioned above, there were enough fun moments to make it a successful show. David Spade, Blake Shelton, Jason Alexander, Clint Black and Kix Brooks were a few who had very funny lines as presenters. It was neat to see Garth come out and sing some hits too.

Thanks for all the calls and comments about the ACM's this morning! Vote at right on what you liked best!

Phil Vassar, Brooks & Dunn Tix, & Crazy Toilet Stories

Kim & I interview country stars on a regular basis on the show, but as you all know by now, one of my favorites is consistently Phil Vassar. Today's interview with him didn't disappoint. Here's a guy who wrote a boatload of hit songs for Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, JoDee Messina, Colin Raye, among others, and he comes off as the guy next door who lends you his lawnmower. It's just so refreshing to talk to a guy like Phil Vassar, who along with those hits for others, now has a pile of his own. I know Phil doesn't get the headlines that Carrie, Toby, Brad, and others get, but for sheer talent and likability, he is up there. His current song, "Love Is A Beautiful Thing," is currently #3 on the national charts and probably headed for #1. Chalk another hit up to Mr. nice guy, Phil Vassar!

We are getting amped for Brooks and Dunn on September 11th at the York Fair, but even more importantly, we are having a blast giving away front row seats this week. Keep listening for your chance to win the "Put A Listener In It" contest, based on their current song "Put A Girl In It." Two more shots to win this week....and THEN Paesan just might have more fun for you next week! Stay tuned....

What is the deal with all these wacky toilet stories lately. Yesterday, Kim and I talked about a story that features a man who was asked to move out of his seat on an airplane because a flight attendant didn't like the seat SHE was sitting in. Apparently, the plane was overbooked, but the attendant agreed to give up her seat to the man, only to want it back later. That, in itself, is a little weird....but the strangest of all is forcing a patron to go sit on an airline toilet for the final three hours of a flight. I'm sure that was one exciting landing. I doubt it was one of those squishy seats....ouch.

Just a few more days to vote for entertainer of the year at the ACM's. Vote at right now!!

Chesney, Street Fair, Gas Prices, & Bikes

I want to thank all of you who stopped by our booth at the York Street Fair this past Sunday. Dan Douglas and I had a great time greeting everyone. It's always nice to come face to face with YOU, the people who make us number one time and time again. It actually turned into a nice day as hundreds stopped by our booth over the 6 hour fest!

I also saw a bunch of our listeners at the Kenny Chesney show in Baltimore on Saturday. The show had a little bit of everything as several performers took the stage. No matter how many times I see LeAnn Rimes, I am still amazed at how good a pure singer she is. Like her or not, her voice is simply dead on, even in a stadium atmosphere. Brooks and Dunn proved that they still can rock it out with a great performance, and as always Kenny was Kenny, closing out the show to the delight of his fans....and the several hundred fighting for position in the "sandbar area" up front. Some crazy stuff happens in that section!

Kim and I did a story today about gas prices and how not EVERYONE is losing money. One kind of business owner is probably thrilled! And that is....the Bicycle shop owner! As a whole, bike shops around the country are reporting record sales. Many adults who never considered riding a bike to work before are doing just that, especially if they live close to work. Pretty soon, you'll see people riding bikes up and down I-83 and 15! Well, I hope it never gets to that!

The mega-money wheel continues until this Friday, so grab that last bunch of cash out there! We have had a blast giving big amounts of cash away! And don't worry, when this contest ends, we have major plans for summer...so get ready!!

Make sure you vote in our new poll...entertainer of the year (at the top right of this page). The awards show is Thursday...so vote now!! Also, vote in our brand new advisory poll debuting today!! Check it out on this site!!

Thanks for listening!!

Jessica Simpson, One Year, and #1!

The number of artists coming over to country (from other formats) is starting to get a little ridiculous. While I give everyone a fair shot, it is hard for me to believe that some of these artists have any country roots at all. What makes country so great is that there are different kinds of country music, and all of them can work. But, when you have people like Eddie Money, Julio Iglesias Jr., Jewel, Darius Rucker, and Jewel turning their careers toward country, you have to dig hard to find what's real and what isn't. Jewel is the easiest fit because she was never truly pop. I can somewhat accept that. But, Jessica Simpson?? That will take some convincing. Again, we will certainly be open and fair to everyone. But, for people who are coming over to "country" just because they have failed everywhere else, they can go fly a kite! lol

Kim and I have been together for ONE YEAR now. It's hard to believe....it's gone by so fast. As I said on the air this morning, Kim made the transition so easy for me. I had done morning shows before, both alone and with multiple partners at other stations, but Kim is not only a consummate professional, but she can adjust to everything and anything. And since I am so wacked, I give her an enormous amount of credit for dealing with my Scott-isms every morning. She is the best!

Finally, thanks again for making us the number 1 station AGAIN in York/Adams in the latest Arbitron ratings. Remember, we NEVER take that for granted, and we can never thank you enough!!
